Approximately 50% of the homes that I have inspected in the past year had a gas leak.
These gas leaks are dangerous, and can cause injury and even death to you or your family. In most cases, the homeowner is unaware of the leak because it is located in an area that is out of the way. It doesn't matter how old your home is, a gas leak may be present.
A big concern if you have a gas leak, is the fact that many times the gas leak is in a confined space. It is very common to see a leak at or near a water heater and the furnace. Think about it, a gas water heater has a pilot light that is always on! Some furnaces have a pilot light that is either on, or it is equipped with electronic ignition. When your furnace kicks on, it relies on a controlled explosion.
Make sure that explosion is controlled! Call me for a free estimate on checking your home for gas leaks! I use state of the art equipment and in most cases, a home can be inspected in as little as 30-45 minutes.
If you are looking for a home inspector, ask them if they check for combustible gas leaks.
